MIKE HARRIS

.

MIKE HARRIS has worked in the Western Mystery Tradition for longer than he cares to remember. He was trained by Gareth Knight (who had been trained in Dion Fortune's Society of the Inner Light) and became one of the founding magi of the Gareth Knight Group in the mid 1980s. He was also the last magus of that group, overseeing its transformation to the Avalon Group in 1999, of which he consequently became co-magus. He is presently Magus of the Company of Avalon.

Mike was also a founding member of the now-legendary Company of Hawkwood, and in 1988 founded the Rose and Unicorn Group to specialize in practical work in the Celtic Mystery Tradition in Wales. He has taught workshops and promoted the Western Mystery Tradition, particularly its Celtic aspect, in the UK and USA for a number of years. He has appeared on British television, written countless articles, is author of Awen, the Quest of the Celtic Mysteries, (SunChalice, 1999) and co-author of Polarity Magic, the Secret History of Western Religion. (Llewellyn, 2003) Merlin's Chess (Ritemagic 2005) (available from this site as a CD book).

He is also a published poet.  Mike lives with fellow Company of Avalon principal  Naomi Ozaniec in the atmospheric mountain scenery of Taliesin and the Mabinogion in North Wales, his home for over thirty five years.

   STEVE BLAMIRES

.

STEVE BLAMIRES  was born in the West of Scotland where the Gaelic  culture is still strong. As a child, he grew up with the old tales and legends, the music, dance and the living tradition of his ancestors, and in later years he immersed himself in a serious study of the Celtic magical and mystical tradition. In 1977 he was initiated into the Gareth Knight Group and the Company of Hawkwood, where he learned the practical techniques necessary to work with a fully contacted magical lodge.

In 1993,  he was invited to represent the indigenous Celtic peoples at the prestigious Council for a Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago.  He is the author of three books:  The Irish Celtic Magical Tradition, (Aquarian, 1992)  Glamoury, (Llewellyn, 1995) and Celtic Tree Mysteries. (Llewellyn, 1997) He now lives in the USA where he has sponsored many Celtic music and cultural events. He is co-owner of "Wandering Angus," a Celtic resource and educational center in  Washington State, where he gives workshops, classes and talks on Celtic traditions. He is an authority on the life & work of the Scottish poet, writer and mystic Fiona Macleod, about whom he has a book in progress.
