STEVE
BLAMIRES was
born in the West of Scotland where the Gaelic culture is still
strong. As a child, he grew up with the old
tales and legends, the music, dance and the living tradition of his
ancestors, and in later years he immersed
himself in a serious study of the Celtic magical and mystical tradition.
In 1977 he was initiated into the Gareth Knight Group and the Company of
Hawkwood, where he learned the practical
techniques necessary to work with a fully contacted magical lodge.
In
1993, he was invited to represent the
indigenous Celtic peoples at the prestigious Council for a Parliament
of the World's Religions in Chicago. He is
the author of three books: The Irish Celtic Magical
Tradition, (Aquarian,
1992) Glamoury,
(Llewellyn, 1995) and Celtic Tree
Mysteries. (Llewellyn, 1997)
He now lives in the USA where he has sponsored
many Celtic music and cultural events. He is co-owner of "Wandering
Angus," a Celtic resource and educational center in
Washington State, where he gives workshops, classes and talks on
Celtic traditions. He is an authority on the
life & work of the Scottish poet, writer and mystic Fiona Macleod,
about whom he has a book in progress.
